How different is Chandigarh's climate from the UK or Europe?

Which European features work in Chandigarh as they are?
A surprising amount of the European home needs no adaptation at all. The entrance sequence of porch, hall, cloakroom, then rooms works beautifully against Indian dust and heat, better than the door-straight-into-living layout common here.
